Gaithersburg, Md.-based Adventist HealthCare recorded operating income of $18.2 million (3% operating margin) through the first six months of fiscal 2026, up from an operating loss of $205,000 (-0.1% margin) during the same period last year, according to its July 29 financial report.
Four things to know:
1. Adventist HealthCare reported total operating revenue of $616.7 million through the six months ended June 30, up from $555.7 million during the same period last year. Net patient revenue totaled $591.3 million, up from $531.3 million.
2. Total operating expenses were $598.5 million through the first half of the year, up from $555.9 million during the same period last year. Salaries, wages and employee benefits totaled $343.8 million, up from $320.9 million. Medical supplies totaled $69.6 million, up from $67.1 million.
3. Among the system’s hospitals, Silver Spring, Md.-based White Oak Medical Center posted $11.9 million in operating income through Q2, up from a $2.8 million operating loss during the same period last year. Rockville, Md.-based Shady Grove Medical Center posted $16.5 million in operating income, up from $10.2 million. Fort Washington (Md.) Medical Center Medical Center posted a $1.2 million operating loss, widened from a $960,000 loss during the same period last year.
4. Adventist HealthCare reported net income of $28.9 million through the second quarter of 2026, up from $7.3 million during the same period last year.
