The pending closure of Select Specialty Hospital–South Dakota, part of Mechanicsburg, Pa.-based Select Specialty Hospital, will result in 90 employee layoffs, according to an Oct. 7 WARN notice.

The hospital, which is located inside Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford USD Medical Center and Hospital, will close “on or around Nov. 7,” or within 14 days of the scheduled layoff date, the notice said.

Some of the affected positions include chief nursing officer, registered nurse, respiratory therapist, physical therapist, human resources manager and pharmacist. The layoffs will not include bumping rights, and none of the impacted employees are represented by a union.

A spokesperson for Sioux Falls-based Sanford Health told Becker’s that its team is working with Select to support affected employees and has encouraged them to apply for roles at Sanford.

Select Specialty Hospital, part of Select Medical, comprises nearly 100 healing and recovery hospitals across the U.S., according to its website

Becker’s has reached out to Select Medical for comment and will update this story should more information become available.
