9 Hospitals Receive Credit Downgrades in Past Month

Nine hospitals and health systems received a credit downgrade during the past month, according to a report from HFA Partners.

The hospitals and health systems receiving credit downgrades included the following:

  • Crozer-Keystone Health System (Upland, Pa.) — from BBB- to BB (S&P)
  • Good Shepherd Medical Center (Longview, Texas) — from Baa3 to Ba3 (Moody’s)
  • Helen Keller Hospital (Sheffield, Ala.) — from Ba2 to Ba3 (Moody’s)
  • Henry Ford Health System (Detroit) — from A2 to A3 (Moody’s)
  • King’s Daughters’ Medical Center (Ashland, Ky.) — from A2 to A3 (Moody’s)
  • Lowell (Mass.) General Hospital — from BBB+ to BBB (S&P)
  • Mississippi Baptist Health System (Jackson) — from BBB+ to BBB (Fitch)
  • Monongahela (Pa.) Valley Hospital — from Baa1 to Baa2 (Moody’s)
  • Winthrop University Hospital Association (Mineola, N.Y.) — from Baa1 to Baa2 (Moody’s)

Two more hospitals and health systems garnered a credit upgrade in the past month:

  • Bridgeport (Conn.) Hospital — from A to AA- (Fitch)
  • Willis-Knighton Health System (Shreveport-Bossier City, La.) — from A to A+ (S&P)
