847 Missouri consumer complaints in 2018 were health-related

The Missouri Attorney General's Office said it received 116,912 consumer complaints last year, and 847 of them were related to health.

The health-related consumer complaints included hospital and physician billing issues, supplemental purchases and health insurance payment disputes, according to the attorney general.

The complaints also involved consumers who paid for health club memberships only to see the club close shortly after their payments were made, the office said.

Overall, health ranked No. 9 on the office's list of the top 10 consumer complaints in 2018 by industry.
