LifePoint’s net income in the fourth quarter fell to $36.3 million compared with $37.7 million in the same period of 2011. However, fourth-quarter revenue soared 14.3 percent to $893.3 million.
In fiscal year 2012, LifePoint’s profit totaled $151.9 million, down from $162.9 million in 2011. Total revenue rose 12.1 percent, from $3.03 billion in 2011 to $3.39 billion this past year, and LifePoint expects next year’s revenue figures to land between $3.65 billion and $3.75 billion.
As of Dec. 31, 2012, LifePoint also had $85 million of cash and cash equivalents on hand, and its adjusted EBITDA stood at $545.6 million, up from $536.2 million from the same period a year ago.
LifePoint’s same-hospital operating statistics showed growth in the outpatient setting, as outpatient surgeries grew 1.1 percent. However, admissions, equivalent admissions and inpatient surgeries all fell in 2012 — 4.2 percent, 1.1 percent and 6 percent, respectively.
