Hospital M&A Up 12% During 2011

Eighty-six hospital and health system transactions took place in 2011, up 12 percent from 2010, according to a report by Irving Levin Associates.

The total value of these deals reached $7.9 billion, down from $10.8 billion, on fewer deals, during 2010.

Total healthcare M&A was up 11 percent, based on deal value, for the year.
