5 ways providers reduced denials in 2022

Upgrading and replacing previous claims technologies was the most common way providers worked to reduce claims denials in 2022, according to a recent report from Experian Health.

Experian conducted a survey in June of 200 healthcare professionals who work in claims and are part of the decision-making process for purchases expected to improve the claims process, according to the report. The sample represented primarily executive and management roles in finance and operations. 

Five ways providers reduced claims denials:  

1. Upgraded/replaced previous claims technology — 52 percent

2. Automated tracking of payer policy changes — 45 percent

3. Automated or expanded patient portal claims reviews — 44 percent

4. Began providing accurate estimates — 40 percent 

5. Digitized the registration process — 39 percent
