Five revenue cycle leaders to know:
Angela Confoey. Senior Vice President of Revenue Cycle and Chief Revenue Officer at UMass Memorial Health (Worcester, Mass.): Ms. Confoey leads a large, complex revenue cycle organization focused on protecting reimbursement, improving cash performance, reducing avoidable denials, and advancing a more reliable and compassionate patient financial experience. She translates strategy into measurable action, aligns cross-functional teams around urgent priorities, and delivers results through significant disruption and change. She has advanced a more data-driven, technology-enabled revenue cycle by using analytics, benchmarking, denial trends, and operational data to clarify priorities and move teams from issue identification to action. She has also strengthened the patient financial experience while building the cross-functional partnerships required to sustain improvement. Her teams expanded patient self-service and simplified billing by making paperless billing the default for patients, increasing adoption while reducing cost and supporting environmental stewardship.
Anthony Cunningham. Chief Revenue Officer at LCMC Health (New Orleans): Named chief revenue officer in September 2023, Mr. Cunningham manages net revenue across the LCMC system, including hospitals and clinics, third-party reimbursement and supplemental funding. He is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, reporting, coordinating, budgeting and forecasting for net revenue enhancement. His expertise in revenue cycle innovation and strategic growth has helped position healthcare organizations for long-term financial sustainability while enhancing the patient experience. He previously served as vice president of revenue cycle operations for Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health and has also held revenue cycle leadership positions at Gainesville, Ga.-based Northeast Georgia Health System and Somerville, Mass.-based Mass General Brigham.
Amanda de Los Reyes. Vice President of Revenue Cycle at Renown Health (Reno, Nev.): Ms. de Los Reyes joined Renown Health in January after serving as the vice president of revenue cycle at Phoenix-based Valleywise Health since December 2022. At Renown Health, she provides executive oversight for all revenue cycle operations, ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance and an exceptional patient financial experience across Renown’s integrated health system. Throughout her career, she has consistently delivered measurable outcomes, including significant reductions in accounts receivable days, improved cash collections and lower denial rates through automation, analytics and workflow optimization. She is a strategic, results-driven executive with a proven track record of driving performance, optimizing systems and building high-performing teams.
Courtney Guernsey. Vice President of Financial Services at Corewell Health (Southfield, Mich.): Ms. Guernsey drives financial resilience across Corewell’s entire enterprise, directly overseeing both hospital and professional billing operations for 21 hospitals, more than 300 ambulatory locations and more than 11,500 physicians and APPs. She has spent 25 years with the organization, including more than two decades in patient financial services leadership. Her achievements include creating an enterprise-wide outsourcing playbook that establishes a thoughtful, people-first approach to strategic sourcing, change management and communication. She also evolved the internal PFS team from a transactional people-management department into a strategic management powerhouse.
Ron Wachsman. Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer at Baptist Memorial Health Care (Memphis, Tenn.): Mr. Wachsman joined Baptist Memorial in 2018 and was promoted to chief revenue officer in July 2023, where he leads all managed care operations, including revenue cycle operations and Baptist Health Services Group, a provider-owned healthcare network affiliated with the system. At Baptist Memorial, Mr. Wachsman has transformed the system’s revenue cycle operations and implemented improvements for managing state and federal reimbursement programs. He plays a key role in the system’s ongoing insurance reimbursement efforts. He served as senior vice president of revenue cycle for Los Angeles-based Prospect Medical Holdings and chief revenue officer of Houston-based Memorial Hermann Health System.
