Here are five hospitals and health systems with strong operational metrics and solid financial positions based on recent reports from Moody's Investors Service and Fitch Ratings.

1. Salt Lake City-based University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics has an "Aa2" rating and stable outlook with Moody's. UUHC has a stable market position, and Moody's expects the system will keep generating favorable financial results.

2. Franciscan Alliance has an "AA" rating and stable outlook with Fitch and an "Aa3" rating and stable outlook with Moody's. The Mishawaka, Ind.-based health system has strong profitability and a moderate debt burden.

3. Indianapolis-based Indiana University Health has an "AA" rating and stable outlook with Fitch. IU Health has a leading market position and strong operating profitability.

4. Sutter Health has an "AA-" rating and stable outlook with Fitch. The Sacramento, Calif.-based health system has a strong operating platform.

5. Fountain Valley, Calif.-based MemorialCare Health System has an "AA-" rating and stable outlook with Fitch. The health system has strong liquidity and a low debt burden.
