5 conditions make up 50% of healthcare costs, study finds

Five conditions comprise half of healthcare costs, according to a Health Action Council and UnitedHealthcare study released in March.

Those conditions are: 

1. Cancer: 15 percent

2. Musculoskeletal conditions: 13 percent

3. Cardiovascular conditions: 9 percent

4. Gastrointestinal conditions: 7 percent 

5. Neurological conditions: 6 percent
