Four things to know:
1. Figures from a database put together by the Health Care Cost Institute reveal that of 254 healthcare services, prices for 242 were higher in Wyoming than the median national price.
2. For example, a Wyoming resident and his or her insurer could pay $21,287 for an appendectomy. In comparison, the median U.S. price is $15,595.
3. KPVI cites another service, a breast biopsy, as priced at $7,300 in Wyoming. The U.S. median price is $2,700 lower.
4. In February, HCCI ranked Wyoming as the state with the fifth-highest per-person healthcare spending in 2017. Employers spent an average of $6,695 per person that year.
