Practices receiving the bonuses through the company’s Quality Incentive Payment System have met the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s core requirements and are nationally recognized Patient-Centered Medical Homes.
Independence Blue Cross CEO Daniel J. Hilferty calls it a “progressive payment program” that “rewards the medical community for delivering the best possible care to members in the most cost-effective way.”
The insurance company started giving providers bonuses through the payment system in 2010.
