Breakaway collected and analyzed premium and cost-sharing data for 196 silver-level health plans in 11 state-based exchanges and four federally facilitated exchanges under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Here are some more key findings:
1. Average monthly premiums for a 27-year-old range from $127 in Minnesota to $439 in New York.
2. Of the 98 second-lowest-cost silver plans analyzed, about half offer integrated deductibles, which means medical costs and prescription drug expenses accumulate toward a single deductible.
3. The average integrated deductible among the 15 marketplaces studied is $2,763. Amounts range from $2,000 in Massachusetts and Maine to $4,061 in Minnesota.
4. Of the 196 silver plans surveyed, about 75 percent charge a copay for a primary care physician visit, while 25 percent use coinsurance to determine cost-sharing. The average copay for a primary care physician visit is $30, while coinsurance averages 17 percent.
