3 things to know about salary for medical billing and coding professionals

Hospitals reported the largest increase in average salary for 2017 among the most common workplaces, with average salary for inpatient facility employees climbing 11.1 percent, according to an AAPC report.

For its report, AAPC used data from nearly 12,000 responses collected for its 2017 salary survey.

Here are three things to know about medical biller and coder salaries.

1. Coding and billing managers saw the highest average salary in 2017 of $64,623.

2. Compared to 2016, coding and billing managers’ average salary grew 4.1 percent in 2017.

3. Nonmanagerial coders and billers saw average salaries increase by 4.8 percent in 2017 compared to 2016, AAPC reports.
