3 things to know about Memorial Hermann’s $650M expansion and renovation project

Houston-based Memorial Hermann broke ground May 27 on the $650 million expansion and renovation of its Texas Medical Center campus.

Here are three things to know about the expansion and renovation project.

1. The project includes construction of a new 15-story patient care building and an additional building that will include parking and infrastructure capabilities to support new growth, according to Memorial Hermann.

2. The expansion will provide 160 additional beds and 71 replacement beds, five additional operating rooms and 19 replacements, 16 additional emergency room bays, 750 new parking spaces and a 335-seat café.

3. The project began in fall 2014 and is expected to be completed in 2019.
