The health system will shut down Physicians Regional Medical Center in Knoxville and Lakeway Regional Hospital in Morristown on Dec. 28, according to WATE.
“We will work with our medical staff, patients and local EMS/first responders to ensure a smooth transition of care,” said Tony Benton, CEO of Tennova Healthcare.
Although Tennova will close two hospitals, it plans to enhance services at North Knoxville Medical Center and Turkey Creek Medical Center in Knoxville. The system is also working with local physicians to pursue opportunities to develop new outpatient care sites, according to the report.
