Insight Hospital and Medical Center Trumbull and Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital, two troubled Warren, Ohio-based hospitals that halted all operations March 27, have furloughed all employees, including management.
The furloughs affected 143 employees at both hospitals, according to a March 28 Ohio WARN notice.
All employees were offered the ability to return within a six-month time frame, a spokesperson for Flint, Mich.-based Insight Health System, which manages and operates both facilities, said in a March 29 statement shared with Becker’s.
The two hospitals were purchased by Insight in early November from bankrupt Dallas-based Steward Health Care. On March 27, ongoing financial and bankruptcy disruptions with Steward prompted both facilities to pause all inpatient, outpatient and emergency room services.
Steward received bankruptcy court approval to sell certain management assets and functions to Brentwood, Tenn.-based Quorum Health affiliate Golden Sun TSA Services on March 11, 2025, which has affected 25 former Steward hospitals, including Hillside Rehabilitation and Insight Hospital.
