Insight Hospital and Medical Center Trumbull and Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital, both in Warren, Ohio, are set to reopen in the coming weeks after they abruptly halted operations in late March over financial and ongoing bankruptcy challenges with former owner Dallas-based Steward Health Care.
Jawad Shah, MD, CEO of Insight, revealed the plan to reopen both facilities in an Aug. 5 meeting with Trumbull County and government officials, a spokesperson for Insight said in a statement shared with Becker’s.
“We look forward to restoring healthcare services starting with the Trumbull emergency department and the critical support services,” the statement said. “We are grateful for the continued support of local leaders and the community while we continue to move forward with the hospitals.”
Flint, Mich.-based Insight Health System purchased the facilities in November 2024 from Steward, which sought Chapter 11 protection May 6, 2024. In early March, Insight Hospital stopped admitting nonemergent patients prior to temporarily pausing operations at both facilities.
