2 hospitals in the Quad Cities region planning construction projects that are largest in their organizations' histories

Genesis Medical Center on East Rusholme Street in Davenport, Iowa and UnityPoint Health in Rock Island, Ill. have embarked on projects that are the largest in their organizations' histories, according to a Quad-City Times report.

At Genesis Medical Center, a $138.5 million project will include building a seven-story tower, which will house 12 new surgical suites, three new floors of inpatient beds and an expanded emergency department, according to Genesis Health System. The project also includes renovating and relocating existing departments.

At the Rock Island hospital, a $61.3 million addition is planned, according to the Quad-City Times report.

The new addition — a three-story structure — will have a heart catheterization lab, an emergency department on the main level and a heart rehabilitation center on the top floor, according to the report.
