Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo made the announcement Oct. 18 and provided the following breakdown of the funding:
- $10 million grant for integration of primary and behavioral healthcare
- $5.7 million grant for expansion and enhancement of medication-assisted treatment programs
- $3.3 million grant for expanding services for expectant mothers and postpartum women with a substance use disorder
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration awarded the grants to the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, according to the governor’s announcement.
“Addiction and substance abuse have torn apart families and devastated lives and it is critical that we continue to offer the supportive services these individuals need to get their lives on track,” Mr. Cuomo said. “This funding will provide critical access to treatment in communities across the state, helping to create a safer and healthier New York for all.”
