CMS will post final figures later in January when it receives the most complete data.
According to the report, CMS believes it has given incentive payments to a total of 180,200 physicians and hospitals through December since the EHR Incentive Program’s inception in January 2011. December 2012 alone saw $1.25 billion in payments, according to estimates. More specifically, 10,000 Medicare eligible physicians received $175 million, 4,200 Medicaid physicians received $80 million and 850 hospitals received $1 billion under the combined programs, according to the report.
