Kaiser Family Foundation published an analysis of 2016 changes in premiums for silver marketplace plans in major cities in each state.

Below are the 13 states with the highest average benchmark premiums for a 40-year-old individual living in a metropolitan area:

  1. Alaska: $719
  2. Vermont: $468
  3. Wyoming: $426
  4. North Carolina: $409
  5. New York: $369
  6. Delaware: $365
  7. West Virginia: $341
  8. Louisiana: $332
  9. New Jersey: $330
  10. Wisconsin: $326
  11. Montana: $322
  12. Connecticut: $318
  13. South Carolina: $314
