“Millions of Americans are getting cancer screenings, mammograms and other preventive services for free thanks to the healthcare law,” Sec. Sebelius said in a statement.
Prior to the passage of the healthcare law, Medicare patients had to potentially pay for a portion of preventive benefits, such as cancer screenings. Under the PPACA, Medicare patients receive preventive benefits free of charge, as well as a complimentary annual wellness visit with a physician of choice.
