13 recent hospital, health system capital projects

Here are thirteen capital projects at hospitals and health systems that were recently announced, started or completed, beginning with the most recent.

1. Baldwin Area Medical Center secures $28.5M for replacement facility
Baldwin (Wis.) Area Medical Center's financial advisor obtained $28.5 million in direct funding from the United States Department of Agriculture Community Facility for a replacement hospital.

2. Gothenburg Memorial Hospital gets funding for $29.5M expansion project
The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development approved a $26.5 million 40-year loan for Gothenburg (Neb.) Memorial Hospital, which will be used to fund a renovation and expansion project.

3. Botsford Hospital plans $160M expansion project
Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, Mich., part of Royal Oak, Mich.-based Beaumont Health, filed a certificate of need with the state for a $160 million expansion project, which is the largest building project for the hospital in more than two decades.

4. KentuckyOne Health begins $9M ED renovation
Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville, Ky., part of KentuckyOne Health, announced a $9 million emergency department expansion and renovation.

5. Dixie Regional Medical Center receives approval for $182 million expansion
Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Utah, received approval from the statewide medical network's governing board to complete the transition of services from its old hospital campus to a new campus on the northwest side of River Road in St. George.

6. Houston Methodist breaks ground on The Woodlands Hospital
Construction began on Houston Methodist's newest facility, a 193-bed, 470,000 square-foot full service hospital located in The Woodlands, Texas.

7. Cleveland Clinic breaks ground on inpatient hospital
Cleveland Clinic broke ground on a five-story, 221,500-square foot inpatient hospital in Avon, Ohio. The 126-bed hospital is budgeted to cost more than $143 million.

8. North Shore-LIJ to build biocontainment unit
Great Neck, N.Y.-based North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System announced plans to develop a biological containment unit to bolster its preparedness and response to infectious disease outbreaks.

9. Central DuPage Hospital proposes $14.2M plan to update pediatrics unit
Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Ill., is hoping to spend $14.2 million to update its pediatrics and neonatal intensive care units.

10. Stamford Hospital to create Children's Institute with $20M donation
Stamford (Conn.) Hospital plans to create an institute dedicated entirely to pediatric services using a recent $20 million donation from the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation.

11. Shriners Hospitals for Children to build $47M facility
Shriners Hospitals for Children in Lexington, Ky., announced it plans to build a $47 million ambulatory care center pursuant to an agreement with UK HealthCare in Lexington.

12. Gothenburg Memorial Hospital to undergo major expansion
Increased demand and the desire to meet the healthcare needs of the community drove Gothenburg (Neb.) Memorial Hospital to initiate a major, 50,000 square-foot expansion.

13. New hospital planned for Colorado Springs area
Plans are in the works to build a 24-hour, 86,600-square-foot hospital in the Colorado Springs (Colo.) area with three floors and 52 beds.
