Pennsylvania’s Geisinger Health System Records Profit of $181M in FY 2011

Geisinger Health System, based in Danville, Pa., recently reported it made a profit of $180.9 million in fiscal year 2011, a 70 percent increase from the previous fiscal year, according to a Geisinger news release.

In 2010, the health system earned a $105 million profit, and Geisinger’s overall revenue increased 13.8 percent from 2010, the release said.

Geisinger invested more than $265 million in community support last year, and a report by the Hospital and Health System Association of Pennsylvania said the health system’s impact on the state’s economy is around $5.5 billion.
