Military health plans. The military’s TRICARE health plan would suffer a $3 billion loss in funding, which could lead to fewer elective services for military families and retirees.
The National Institutes of Health. The NIH would lose $1.6 billion to fund medical research, including 20,000 private research positions. The report also notes that health departments would perform 424,000 fewer AIDS tests, and more than 373,000 seriously ill people could face losing mental health services.
Hospitals and other providers are also expected to see billions in lost Medicare reimbursements.
