WellSpan Ephrata Hospital completes $28M expansion project: 5 things to know

WellSpan Ephrata Hospital held a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday to celebrate its newly-expanded health pavilion, according to Reading Eagle.

Here are five things to know about the expansion.

  1. The project took 18 months to complete and cost $28.4 million.

  2. The new health pavilion, which is connected to the main hospital, totals 98,000 square feet, representing a 40 percent expansion of the facility.

  3. The project boosts the hospital's number of operating rooms from eight to 10. The new, larger operating rooms will replace some of the older, more compact rooms in the hospital's main building, according to the report.

  4. While the new pavilion officially opens on Monday, four of the operating rooms have been in use since early April.

  5. The new facility also contains a redesigned entrance, a new administrative office, conference rooms and more nurses' stations, among other features.
