Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital started a four-phase renovation project this month that includes technical additions and cosmetic updates to the 56-bed facility.
The project is expected to cost $6 million. Most of the renovations will be concentrated in the critical care unit, medical surgical unit and operating rooms. Critical care unit rooms will receive cosmetic updates, connecting windows between rooms will be closed off and ceiling lifts will be installed. The nurses' station will be adjusted to allow for a better view of patient rooms.
Medical surgical units will receive lighting and plumbing upgrades, hand sinks in every room, and a more centralized nurses' station.
"The overarching goal of this renovation project is to offer an even better experience for patients while they are in our care," Waynesboro Hospital Vice President and COO Melissa Dubrow said in a statement.
The hospital expects the project to last 14 to 18 months.
