Wayne Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania plans expansion: 5 things to know

Honesdale, Pa.-based Wayne Memorial Hospital on Thursday revealed expansion plans for its campus, reports The News Eagle.

Here are five things to know about the expansion.

1. The expansion calls for adding a three-floor, 85,000-square-foot rectangular building to the hospital, according to the report.

2. Features of the expansion include 50 patient rooms, extra space for later additions and, on the roof, an enclosed penthouse for equipment storage.

3. In addition to the new structure, WMH will also renovate space across its same-day surgery, chemotherapy, wound recovery and obstetrics facilities, according to the report.

4. The estimated cost of the expansion/renovation project is $35 million.

5. Hospital officials hope to start construction in mid- to late summer, with the construction process taking 18 to 20 months, according to the report.
