The emergency room at Gatesville, Texas-based Coryell Memorial Healthcare System reopened July 1 after damage from an explosion that killed two people and injured 14 was repaired, according to a KDH News report.
The hospital had been closed since the June 27 explosion, which an investigation revealed was likely caused by natural gas in a construction-related accident.
Hospital officials said that repairs from the accident will be broken into phases, but the first priority was reopening the ER.
"We did a ribbon-cutting at 8 a.m. when we opened the ER this morning," hospital spokesperson Carly Latham said. "It was led by David Byrom, CMHS CEO."
Before the facility is fully operational, the hospital will need to assess damage to various utilities, officials said.
