Tennessee Hospital begins $10.5M expansion project

Smyrna, Tenn.-based TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center broke ground Tuesday on a $10.5 million emergency room renovation and behavioral health unit expansion, according to the Daily News Journal.

The project will add 17 beds to the existing emergency department and include expanded behavioral health and clinical decision units.

Construction on the new behavioral health and clinical decision units will take roughly a year. Once those units are completed, renovations will begin on the ER.

"With the increase in behavior health and opioid issues happening now, we're excited to add resources for the population that needs it," StoneCrest Medical Center's CEO Lou Caputo told the Daily News Journal.
