The project added 26,000 square feet to the facility and upgraded the hospital’s outpatient and primary care services. The final phase of the three-part project expanded the laboratory, enhanced the hospital entrance and parking areas, and connected the new central registration and waiting area to the hospital’s older section.

The 25-bed critical access hospital is part of St. Charles Health System, a four-hospital network based in Bend, Ore. St. Charles Madras serves 21,000 people in Madras and the surrounding communities. The facility, formerly called Mountain View Hospital, did not meet standards of care when St. Charles acquired it in 2013, according to hospital officials.

The project also expanded the St. Charles Madras emergency department, which houses a new surgical suite and imaging department, all of which were completed last summer.

The hospital will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony Jan. 12 to celebrate the completion of the two-year project.
