The 550,000-square-foot tower will have eight floors for patient services. The hospital will initially open with approximately 70 beds, leaving room to open additional beds. The interior will also house additional operating rooms, a relocated labor and delivery department, postpartum beds, newborn nurseries, additional intensive care and medical/surgical beds, and space to expand clinical departments.
The 438-bed hospital delivers the second highest number of babies statewide each year, performs more than 23,000 surgeries annually and sees more than 85,000 emergency room patients each year.
The patient tower is scheduled to be finished in 2019.
