The facility, dubbed the Sentara Cancer Center, will serve as a home for multidisciplinary care teams from the Virginia Oncology Associates, Sentara Medical Group and Norfolk-based Eastern Virginia Medical School.

The facility will centralize outpatient oncology services to one cancer center.

Construction on the facility is expected to start in late March and is projected to be complete by mid-2020.

“Developing this center is the culmination of years of work to deliver a truly integrated cancer program that will engage clinicians, researchers, support staff, community leaders, patients, and families in a collaborative way,” said Howard Kern, president and CEO of Sentara Healthcare.
