The walk-in clinics, opened in partnership with INtuitive Health, aim to increase patients’ access to immediate care in an appropriate setting. When patients present to the walk-in clinics, a clinician will assess their symptoms and give any required treatment. The hope is that patients will see lower out-of-pocket costs by accessing both emergency and urgent care outside of more expensive settings.

“Patients want convenience, immediate access to care, better customer service and greater transparency into the billing process,” Thom Herrmann, CEO of INtuitive Health, said in a prepared statement. INtuitive led the move to combine emergency care and urgent care in Texas more than a decade ago, according to the company.

The clinics are scheduled to open by the end of 2019.
