Ohio State Wexner proposes $21.8M renovation, expansion project

Columbus-based The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center board members approved a $21.8 million renovation and expansion project, according to The Lantern.

The initiative includes a $19.3 million renovation of recently purchased medical center business offices and a $2.5 million professional services contract to expand and renovate OSU Hospital East in Columbus.

Renovation of the medical business offices is "primarily to address a number of support departments," Jay Kasey, senior vice president of administration and planning at OSU, told The Lantern. The proposal would increase the number of employees in the building from 468 to 608. Construction on the office building is slated to begin in August and reach completion by February 2019.

The $2.5 million proposed for a professional services contract for OSU Hospital East would facilitate the design process of a $26 million renovation of the hospital's operating rooms and other facilities. The design process is set to start in July, the report states.

The project requires Ohio State Board of Trustees approval.
