The 161,000-square-foot hospital, which would be built in a neighborhood in Charlotte, N.C., would house 36 beds. If approved by state regulators, the hospital would open in 2023.

Novant Health already has several physician offices in the area. Atrium Health, the other major health system in Charlotte, also has multiple facilities in the proposed location.

In September, Novant opened its 15th hospital — a 46-bed, 145,000-square-foot facility — in Mint Hill, N.C.
