Northwest Healthcare to invest $150M in building upgrades

Tucson, Ariz.-based Northwest Healthcare plans to invest $150 million to expand and renovate several facilities in its network, according to a Tucson News Now report.

Northwest Healthcare's largest project is a medical campus in Sahuarita, Ariz., which will house a neighborhood hospital, physician offices and outpatient services. The neighborhood hospital will feature 18 beds, an emergency room and two operating rooms.

If the proposal is approved by Sahuarita's mayor and council, the hospital will open in late 2019.

"We are committed to offering convenient, accessible healthcare across Tucson and surrounding areas," said Kevin Stockton, regional president and market CEO for Northwest Healthcare, according to Tucson News Now. "This expansion will help bring that commitment to fruition and enable us to offer a variety of healthcare services beyond our traditional Northwest footprint."

The health system's Tucson-based flagship facility, Northwest Medical Center, also is slated for renovation.
