MIHS to build $70M health center in Arizona after board approval

Phoenix-based Maricopa Integrated Health System will build a $70 million multi-specialty health center in Peoria, Ariz. after the Maricopa County Special Health Care District Board of Directors unanimously approved the proposal.

The new West Valley Primary & Specialty Care Center will house an urgent care unit, dental clinic, dialysis clinic, four operating rooms and recovery bays. In addition, it will offer behavioral health services, a retail pharmacy and laboratory services.

The construction of the 127,000 square-foot facility will begin later this year. It is expected to be completed in 2019.

"Today is the beginning of a new future for MIHS and what we are calling 'Care Reimagined' as we reinvent our community's teaching hospital and safety net system of care," said Steve Purves, president and CEO of MIHS. "This important step allows us to define future possibilities for clinical services and create a supportive environment that can successfully coordinate complex care for all patients who seek services."
