Maine Medical Center proposes $512M expansion

Portland-based Maine Medical Center officials proposed a $512 million expansion project of the facility. If approved, the expansion would become one of the largest projects ever to be pursued by the hospital, according to The Washington Times.

Officials said the expansion would add roughly 300,000 square feet to the hospital’s existing campus. The facility will also feature 20 new operating rooms and will relocate all of the 637 beds to private, single-patient rooms.

The project is expected to be completed in 2022, pending state and federal approval.
