If the permit is approved, the rehabilitation center will feature 100 beds and private patient rooms. In addition, there will be research space for the University of Miami.

The proposed facility, named Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center For the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at UHealth/Jackson Memorial Medical Center, would be funded with the help of a $25 million donation from healthcare philanthropist Christine Lynn.

The 225,000-square-foot facility is expected to open in 2020 if the hospital gains the necessary approvals.
