IU Health West Hospital plans $83M expansion

Indianapolis-based Indiana University Health approved an $83 million expansion of IU Health West Hospital in Avon, Ind.

The project will feature 48 additional inpatient beds, a new operating room, an expanded catheterization lab and extra support service space. The expansion will also add another floor to the hospital's inpatient tower.

The approval comes as another significant renovation project at IU Health West draws to a close. Renovations to increase the size and improve patient flow at the hospital's emergency department are expected to be finished in December 2017.

"We have been proud to serve the people of Hendricks County and beyond since we opened in late 2004. Funding for this latest, major expansion sets the stage for IU Health and IU Health West to continue to be the first choice for patients in our market for years to come," said Doug Puckett, president of IU Health West Hospital.

Construction on the $83 million expansion is expected to begin October 2018. It will take two years to complete.
