Florida hospital without power 6 days after Hurricane Michael

Pensacola, Fla.-based Sacred Heart Health System, part of St. Louis-based Ascension, said several facilities were still without power as of Oct. 16 — six days after Hurricane Michael devastated parts of the South, NBC 7 reports.

Here are four things to know:

1. Port St. Joe, Fla.-based Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf resumed inpatient services Oct. 19. Surgical and outpatient diagnostic services were resumed Oct. 22, making the hospital fully operational.

2. The health system reopened its medical office building in Port St. Joe on a limited basis Oct. 16.

3. Several of the institution's clinics reopened or will reopen within the next few days and resume normal operations. In addition, all Sacred Heart Medical Group offices are now running normally.

4. Leaders at Sacred Heart and Ascension are still working to determine the needs of employees affected by the hurricane and are working to provide temporary housing for affected individuals who seek to return to work but whose homes were damaged by the storm, the report states.
