Delray Medical Center to open 4-story patient tower in July

Construction has been ongoing at Delray Medical Center in Delray Beach, Fla., on a new four-story patient tower. Jared Smith, COO of the medical center, said the facility is expected to open in July, according to the Sun Sentinel.

"The Patient Tower will provide expansion of key services in orthopedics and neurosciences, advanced heart therapies and clinics and cardiac rehabilitation," Mr. Smith told representatives of the Alliance of Delray Residential Associations during a tour of the new building, according to the report. "This is an investment of $80 million to our medical center, which has a staff of 600 doctors and 1,500 employees. We will have 96 private patient rooms, presurgical testing areas, expanded hybrid operating rooms, lab services and expanded MRI capabilities and services."

The tower's third floor will house 48 private rooms for orthopedic and surgical patients, and the fourth floor will have 48 rooms for neuroscience patients, according to the report. Mr. Smith said the hospital is also converting 96 existing semi-private patient rooms into private rooms. The roof of the tower will include a helicopter pad and elevator.
