The expansion, expected to cost $300 million, will include a tower for emergency and heart patients, a behavioral health hospital and a new 550-space parking garage. Carilion Clinic will also spend $200 million equip the tower and behavioral health hospital.
Crystal Spring Tower will have two or three floors of underground parking, topped with six or seven floors of clinical space.
The existing emergency room will be moved and expanded to 95 beds.
Construction is slated to begin later this year and to be completed in five years.
“After several years of careful planning, we are embarking on a major expansion that will address the growing needs of the 1 million patients we serve and continue the great momentum happening in the Roanoke Innovation Corridor,” Nancy Howell Agee, president and CEO of Carilion Clinic, said in a news release.
