Atrium Health installs metal detectors at select facilities

Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health has begun installing metal detectors at certain facilities in North Carolina, according to WSCO TV.

The health system revealed plans to install a metal detector at one of its behavioral health facilities Dec. 4, and previously installed one in its emergency room at Charlotte-based Carolinas Medical Center.

The effort is part of a heightened security initiative Atrium Health announced in August. More metal detectors will be installed at various facilities across the health system in the coming months, the report states.
