Wellstar to implement Epic at Augusta U as part of acquisition

Marietta, Ga.-based Wellstar Health System will install Epic at Augusta (Ga.) University Health System as part of the $800 million Wellstar will invest in the system through a merger agreement, the Augusta Chronicle reported May 2.

Wellstar uses Epic and has implemented it at other hospitals. In January, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp set aside $105 million for the new EHR system at AU.

The health systems approved the affiliation in March. However, it is still subject to regulatory approval.
