Vets call for end to Cerner rollout at Washington VA hospital

Veterans Charlie Bourg and Charlie Monroe are continuing a yearslong protest against the Cerner EHR system at Spokane, Wa.-based Mann-Grandstaff Veterans Medical Center, The Spokesman Review reported May 9.

Mr. Bourg, an Army veteran, and Mr. Monroe, a veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees, worked with other volunteers on a petition calling for the removal of the EHR system. The veterans made and distributed 2,000 fliers to employees and patients around the hospital.

U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, whose district includes Spokane, has called for the termination of the Oracle Cerner contract.

In March, the VA found four deaths that were linked to the EHR system.
