UC San Diego Health rolls out GPT-4 to EHRs

A limited number of physicians at UC San Diego Health now have the option to draft responses to patient messages using ChatGPT.

ChatGPT will generate a draft response for physicians when they reply to a patient message through MyChart, according to a June 15 press release from UC San Diego Health. Physicians can review the message written by ChatGPT and decide to send it or revise it.

In addition, all messages written by ChatGPT and sent to the health system's patients will be marked as "automatically generated and reviewed by a physician," according to UC San Diego Health.

UC San Diego Health is piloting the generative AI technology from Epic and Microsoft.
