Four things to know:

1. The health system, which partnered with Epic in March 2018, plans to implement the new EHR system at its five hospitals in November.

2. The transition to Epic will connect all Tanner Health’s facilities on a single system, which currently operate on three different systems.

“Currently, our hospitals are on one system, our Tanner Medical Group practices are on another and some of our emergency departments use yet a third,” Greg Schulenburg, Tanner Health senior vice president and CIO told Star News Online. “The information is there, but it takes time and effort to piece together the whole picture of the patient’s health.”

3. To assist with the Epic rollout, Tanner Health formed a project team of more than 100 employees, including IT professionals and clinicians.

4. With the new EHR system, Tanner Health patients will also gain access to Epic’s MyChart online patient portal to perform functions such as messaging their provider and viewing test results.
